Blessing Baskets

Join your community to help families in need from Avondale Elementary, The Museum School and Our House.

It’s fun and easy! Build your basket, drop it off and receive two complimentary drink tickets per basket (a $14 value), generously provided by The Lost Druid.

DROP OFF EVENT: Tuesday, November 18, 4:30 – 7:00 PM
THE LOST DRUID, 2866 WASHINGTON ST.

Thank you for supporting the 3rd Annual Blessing Baskets event. This event supports families of students from our local Avondale Elementary and The Museum School, as well as Our House, a local nonprofit supporting families transitioning from homelessness to self-sufficiency. School counselors and administrators have identified student families in need; they will hand deliver your baskets in time for Thanksgiving. Providing a Thanksgiving meal can be very stressful for families encountering food insecurities.

Building a Blessing Basket is a fulfilling holiday activity! Engage your family and friends in the spirit of giving. Invite neighbors or co-workers to create a basket. Make it a contest to see who can fill their basket with the most items. Get creative! Fill your basket with items that will bring smiles and excitement to the recipient family, even including items that aren’t food related like a blanket, items for the kids or pets, kitchen or cleaning supplies, etc. You can even decorate your basket to look festive!

What do I need for my Blessing Basket?
  • Laundry basket to hold all items (no bags please)
  • $25 gift card to be used for turkey or ham and other perishable items (preferably from Walmart or Kroger)
  • Large aluminum roasting pan
  • Vegetable/casserole canned ingredients: corn, green beans, cream of mushroom soup, Durkee fried onions
  • Side dish ingredients: stuffing, macaroni and cheese, instant mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, jar or packet of gravy, biscuit or cornbread mix
  • Dessert ingredients: graham cracker or shortbread pie crust, can of Libby’s Pumpkin Pie Mix, can of evaporated milk.

⭐️  Extra touches to make it special: can opener, boxed/canned milk, sparkling apple juice, dog/cat food for pets, items for the kids (games, markers, coloring books, puzzles, etc.), holiday table decor (cut outs, candles, candle holders, festive napkins, etc.), socks, toiletries, laundry detergent, a blanket, etc. Get festive and decorate your basket with ribbon, tissue and/or other decor. Have fun with it!
