Black History Month Spirit Week
Join us in recognizing and celebrating Black History Month with Spirit Week, February 2 – 6.
Monday, February 2 – Neon Day: Shine for Justice
Students will wear bright neon colors in recognition of kindness, acceptance, and respect values that reflect the broader ideals celebrated during Black History Week.
IB Connection: Caring and Principled – Students “shine” for justice by promoting kindness, acceptance, and respect for all.
Tuesday, February 3 – Black Excellence in STEM/Sports Day
Wear favorite team colors or shirts of Black inventors/athletes honoring the achievements, leadership, and innovation of Black individuals in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and athletics.
IB Connection: Balanced and Knowledgeable — Recognizing achievement in all areas of human growth and potential.
Wednesday, February 4 – Heritage & Harmony Day
Students are invited to wear coordinated outfits with a friend or group to celebrate teamwork, community building, and positive peer relationships.
IB Connection: Caring and Principled — Students show pride and stand together in support of equity and justice.
Thursday, February 5 – Unity Day
Students may wear red, black, green, or African‑inspired attire to honor unity, cultural pride, and the meaningful contributions of Black communities.
IB Connection: Open-minded and Reflective — Students celebrate and respect the beauty of different cultures and artistic traditions.
Friday, February 6 – School Spirit Day
Show your pride by wearing your Avondale Elementary School colors or spirit wear as we celebrate unity, community, and the rich contributions of Black history and culture. Let’s come together and show our Roadrunner spirit!
